Musicianship Goal | Action Plan | |
What will you accomplish?
(Goal statement)
|
– Remaster and learn new VCM Gr. 6 violin repertoire and technique.
– Scales: 3 octave G major, G harmonic minor, A major, and A harmonic minor – Pieces: Étude No. 2 in C major by Rodolfe Kreutzer and Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3, No. 6, 1st Mvt. by A. Vivaldi Arr. T Nachéz |
|
What does it look like when you’ve accomplished your goal? i.e. How will you know you have achieved your goal? What are the indicators of success or progress? (Assessment – how will I know what you learned and how well you learned it? How will you demonstrate your learning?) |
– Playing the scales with confidence, smooth transitions between notes, and relative pitch accuracy. – The ideal tempo for the scales would be 100 with each octave note held a full quarter and the rest eighths. – Étude No. 2 in C major focuses on quick bow action and shifts between Ⅰ, II, and Ⅲ positions, my ease and note accuracy will be the main goal of this piece. – Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3, No. 6, 1st Mvt. will be where I focus on the musicality of the piece as well as note accuracy. – Dynamics: the goal is to follow the dynamic markings. – Accents: staccatos, marcatos, and tenutos feature throughout the piece and the goal is again to play them all appropriately with correct bow motions. – I will be videoing my progress, both successes and failures. – The videos will feature my playing the violin. Whereas I will be talking about my progress through posts on *my blog. |
Timeline:
Oct. 22 – Midterm – Can play 3 octave scales G maj, A maj, and their arpeggios with a Galamian turn confidence and reasonable precision. – Can play first half of Étude No. 2 in C major by Rodolfe Kreutzer and Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3, No. 6, 1st Mvt. by A. Vivaldi Arr. T Nachéz with confidence and reasonable precision.
Nov. 26 – Final – Can play 3 octave scales G harm min, A maj, and their arpeggios with confidence and reasonable precision – Can play entirety of Étude No. 2 in C major by Rodolfe Kreutzer and Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3, No. 6, 1st Mvt. by A. Vivaldi Arr. T Nachéz with confidence and reasonable precision. |
Rationale:
Why is it important?
|
– This is important for me in regaining musical literacy in both reading sheet music and executing my musical skills.
– It is a skill that I have neglected and am anxious to regain. |
|

2. I have a violin and the music books necessary. 3. Access to space for practice
|
1. Limited time due to busy class schedule.
